Zardari calls Ashraf, other PPP leaders in Lahore

Former president and PPPP President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday directed National Assembly speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and other senior party leaders to reach Bilawal House, in Lahore, where he was currently staying.

Sources added that in his meetings with acting president of PPP Central Punjab Rana Farooq Saeed, PPP Lahore President Aslam Gill, PPP Central Punjab Women’s Wing President Samina Khalid Ghurki, Faisal Mir, Nawab Shahzad Ali Khan and Sufyan Ghurki, he directed them to speed up the mass contact campaign and spread the party’s message to the people belonging to different segments of the society.

They also disclosed that on the other hand, the party leaders had advised Zardari to choose strong candidates for the polls. They had also advised him not to disclose the party’s candidates’ names unless other parties did the same. At the same time, applications for the party tickets continue to pour in. However, the PPP’s parliamentary board would finalize the list of party candidates for the elections.
