PTM chief Manzoor Pashteen arrested for ‘attacking security personnel in Chaman’

CHAMAN – Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) leader Manzoor Pashteen, the controversial activist who led protests against state institutions, has been arrested for an alleged attack on security personnel.

Sources familiar with the development told Pakistan Observer that a rights activist from South Waziristan was held when he was moving from Chaman to Turbat along with party men.

The local administration said Manzoor Pashteen and his aides attacked officers security forces when they were stopped at routine checks. He managed to escape from the security checkpost but was nabbed after a search operation.

A case has been registered against Pashteen, and his confidants for attacking security personnel.

On the other hand, a spokesperson of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement revealed that the party members were traveling when forces personnel opened fire at his vehicle near the Chaman Press Club.

PTM spox said several bullets were sprayed on his vehicle, and it even injured a woman who is now getting medical aid in the hospital. He further claimed that Pashteen himself presented for arrest.

He has been arrested several times as forces laid bare the links between the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) and India.
