ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan decided not to contest the upcoming intra-party polls, Barrister Ali Zafar announced Wednesday.

In a surprising turn of events, PTI leader announced that Barrister Gohar has been nominated as chairman of the former ruling party.

Ali Zafar also linked the change in PTI leadership as ‘minus one’ theory. He further said party has now two options, challenging ECP notice on intra-party polls or holding an election. Zafar confirmed that the party had opted to do both.

He was of the view that without Imran Khan, there is no concept of PTI, stressing that he would remain the party’s leader.

Ali Zafar said Gohar Khan took charge of the party until Imran took over again, and added that the party and the party’s struggle were the same as it was.

PTI triggered another controversy after denying a statement by one of its own senior leaders, who had claimed that Imran Khan would not contest the upcoming intra-party polls.
