Ambassador of Kuwait Nassar Abdulrahman J Almutairi on Monday hosted a grand reception to mark the 59th anniversary of the Independence Day and 29th anniversary of the Liberation Day of the State of Kuwait.
The reception-cum-dinner was attended by dignitaries, members of the Pakistani Parliament, officials of the Foreign Ministry, serving and retired officers of the Pak Army, diplomats, particularly those of the Arab and the African countries and a large number of the Kuwaiti businessmen, teachers and students.
The illuminating hall of the Serena Hotel where the reception was organized was decorated on the theme of the Kuwaiti culture and traditions and in colours—white, green and red— of the country’s flag.
Federal Minister for Privatization Mohammadmian Soomro was the chief guest on the occasion while among the noted guests who came to greet Brother Nassar included PML-N Leader of the House in the Senate Raja Zafarul Haq, Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Senator Sirajul Haq, Air Chief Marshal (R) Sohail Aman and others.
The guests were served with traditional Kuwait tea and cookies. national anthems of Pakistan and Kuwait were played on the occasion while a cake was also cut on the occasion.
In his message on the occasion, Mohammadmian Soomro said, “ Kuwait and Pakistan enjoy strong, historic relations and we pray that people of Kuwait could see more happiness and such days in future. We import refined petroleum products from Kuwait and export textile, food items to Kuwait making the bond stronger.”
The minister expressed hope that the trade and bilateral ties will improve between the two countries in the coming future. Kuwait ambassador while expressing gratitude to the guests for gracing the occasion, in a statement said, “Since independence, Kuwait devised the path of a balanced national and foreign policies aimed at achieving welfare and development to the Kuwaiti people and also bolstering cooperation with neighbors in the region as well as friends around the world.”
“While Kuwait continues to play a pivotal role regionally and internationally, people of the country rely wholesomely on the guidelines and wise policies set by His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah,” he pointed out. The ambassador highlighted His Highness the Amir’s economic development vision aimed at transforming Kuwait into a regional and international center for finance and business. “On the foreign policy level, His Highness the Amir always focused on building bridges of understanding and peace amongst the nation of the world to achieve overall prosperity for everyone,” said the envoy.
He also spotlighted humanitarian stance both on the national and international levels by His Highness the Amir that marked him as a global humanitarian leader by United Nations and recognized Kuwait as an international hub for humanitarian work.
“Kuwait affirmed its supportive role aiming to counter threats surrounding the region and work to settle disputes peacefully as well as discard violence and terrorism,” he added.
The envoy took the opportunity to recall His Highness the Amir’s historic visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan back in 2006 that helped transform relations between the two brother countries.“Ties between the two countries are outstanding and date back for decades, hoping for more progress in relations between the two countries,” he concluded.
