Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood said that we all have to campaign together to promote education for the development of the country.
He was addressing the 3rd National Conference on Research Education (NCOR) organized by the Punjab University Institute of Education and Research on the theme of ‘Higher Education Institutions and Governmental Priorities’.
On this occasion, Director Institute of Education and Research Prof Dr Tariq Mehmood Chaudhry, Chairman Department of Advanced Studies in Education Prof Dr Muhammad Shahid Farooq, Social Worker Raja Munawar Ali, researchers, academicians, faculty members and a large number of students were present.
Addressing the participants, Dr Khalid Mahmood said that the development of higher education in Pakistan must be among the top priorities of any government. Unfortunately, he said, our society also did not give importance to education. He said that governments take credit for the creation of new universities but they should also allocate appropriate grant to run the universities.
The VC said that PU was facing problems due to the lack of appropriate financial assistance received by the federal government for the last six years. He said that the promotion of knowledge and research was possible only when all the institutions, working for education, will play their role with full force. He congratulated the organizers for organizing the successful conference.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Tariq Mehmood Chaudhry said that knowledge is wisdom and mercy. He said that there was emphasis on acquiring knowledge in Islam.
