Paul W. Jones, US Ambassador has said that the US and Pakistan have been enjoying excellent diplomatic and trade relations for a long time and bilateral trade is being promoted gradually which is good efforts from both sides.
We want to make bilateral trade relations with Pakistan more stable. US envoy, while talking with Amin Yousuf Balgamwala, chairman, Pakistan Chemicals & Dyes Merchants Association (PCDMA), former director, Karachi Stock Exchange and Arif Balgamwala on the occasion of National Day of the United States, said that he would do everything possible to enhance bilateral trade between the two friendly countries and that will provide more facilities to Pakistani businessmen.
Amin Yousuf Balgamwala, chairman PCDMA praised US cooperation with Pakistan, but also point out that the current trade volume is insufficient accordingly to the opportunities available in both countries. He stressed the need for more work from both sides in this regard. Chairman PCDMA told to US envoy that textile industry is the backbone of Pakistan’s economy, besides being the largest contributor of domestic exports.
The industry cannot run without us because commercial importers have very important role in continuing production activities, as they provide raw material to industries.
Amin Yusuf Balgamwala also told envoy that there is no import from the US to Pakistan of chemicals and dyes which needs to be focus, so that to boost trade in these sectors. In this response US ambassador assured of all possible cooperation to chairman PCDMA.
