Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has implemented austere regulations for flight crew travelling to European countries and Canada after recent incidents of staff members “slipping away” in these destinations. PIA management has set an age limit for air hostesses and flight stewards travelling to these regions, and has outlined specific procedures for including attendants above the age of 50 in flight rosters.
These measures follow a string of incidents where PIA flight attendants have disappeared from their assigned duties upon reaching Canada and European coun-tries.
It is pertinent to mention here that on November 10, two ste-wards assigned to a flight from Islamabad to Canada disappeared in Toronto. This incident prompted PIA’s decision to impose stricter controls on air hostess travel to Canada and Europe.
This restriction aims to reduce the risk of older flight attendants slip-ping away as they may be more susceptible to the allure of better job prospects in these regions. This may involve more frequent check-ins and enhanced communication channels to ensure that staff members remain accountable during their assignments.
PIA is expected to implement stricter monitoring and communication protocols to track the whereabouts of its flight attendants, particularly those travelling to Canada and Europe.
