Ambassador Zamir Akram’s book explores a vision for security

The Global and Regional Studies Center (GRSC) at the Institute of Business Management (IoBM), Karachi, in collaboration with the Center for International Strategic Studies Sindh (CISSS), hosted the launch of Ambassador Zamir Akram’s book, titled “The Security Imperative: Pakistan’s Nuclear Deterrence and Diplomacy.”

Apart from the author, the speakers at the event included Talib S. Karim, President of IoBM; Ambassador Qazi M. Khalilullah, Executive Director, CISSS; Ikram Sehgal, Chairman, Pathfinder Group; Ambassador G. R. Baluch, Director, GRSC; Prof. Dr. Huma Baqai; and Safia Malik, Research Officer, CISSS.

Talib S. Karim emphasized the significance of such book launches, stating that they provide valuable insights into various aspects of international affairs and national security. Ambassador Qazi praised Ambassador Zamir’s book for its wealth of experience gained from key diplomatic missions. Ikram Sehgal highlighted Pakistan’s nuclear deterrence, particularly in its orientation toward India.

Prof. Dr. Huma Baqai pointed out that the book explores Pakistan’s nuclear deterrence and contains a wealth of details and facts about the framework of our policy. Ambassador G. R. Baluch commended Ambassador Akram’s blend of patriotism, passion, and professionalism, underlining his profound insights into international relations. Safia Malik presented a detailed overview of the book. Ambassador Zamir Akram stated that the book was born out of a need to address the gap in understanding Pakistan’s narrative regarding the necessity, purposes, and rationale for acquiring nuclear capability.
