It has been disclosed that students from South Waziristan Lower and South Waziristan Upper have been given a quota of one district in the reserved seats for tribal districts in educational institutions across the country, including Medical and Engineering Universities. In 2022, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government divided South Waziristan into two districts under the Land Revenue Act 1967. The names of which were named as South Waziristan Upper and South Waziristan Lower in the notification.

It has been a year since South Waziristan was divided into two districts, but still the quota of one district is being given in the higher educational institutions of the country. For the year 2023, the Higher Education Commission released 500 scholarships to Ex FATA districts/ newly merged Districts.
In which 62/62 seats were being formed in South Waziristan Upper and Lower but 62 seats have been given to both districts. This year, 300 seats were allotted to tribal districts by Pakistan Medical and Dental Commission (PMDC). In which 42 seats of South Waziristan Lower.
