Oxford University Press Pakistan hosted a Teachers’ Symposium at Avari Lahore, on 7th November. The theme was Building Bridges with Blended Learning – the presenters, keynote speaker and the Managing Director spoke about the benefits of technology-mediated teaching, encouraging critical thinking, developing digitial literacy among students and keeping a close eye on updating our teaching and learning to meet international standards.
Subject-specific sessions gave teachers an insight on current global best practices in teaching methods, monitoring and assessing learning. Participants got a chance to interact with the presenters, discuss challenges and address teaching hurdles.
The two things that stood out in most presentations are 1) The need to close the gaps in local and international standards in teaching methodologies 2) The need for digital tools to be used in tandem with text to strengthen subject expertise.
