Shafqat promises increase in scholarships for PIFD needy students

Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mahmood visited Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design (PIFD), which is a federally chartered public sector institute. He was warmly welcomed by the vice-chancellor, registrar along-with heads of different academic departments.
During the visit, a brief presentation was given to the minister about PIFD. The information about academic programmes of PIFD, faculties and students’ achievements, foreign collaborations, eminent alumni, industry linkages was shared with him. The minister appreciated the activities.
Further, he took overview of the scholarship programmes offered by HEC, Govt of Pakistan, and the financial assistance provided by PIFD and assured to increase the number of scholarships for needy and potential students of PIFD.
After having the detailed presentation, he visited the academic departments of PIFD and overviewed the facilities/studio labs provided by the departments and interacted with the students who were working on their final year thesis.
Afterwards, he visited auditorium where the thesis work of last year graduates was displayed. He was deeply impressed by the quality of the work produced by the graduates.
