A sessions court on Monday declined the ACE officials’ request for an extension of the physical remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Chaudhary Parvez Elahi in a case related to alleged illegal appointments in the Punjab Assembly.
Duty Judge Amir Raza passed the order after the Punjab Anti-Corruption officials presented the PTI president before it. The duty judge took up the case as Judicial magistrate Imran Abid was unavailable for the day.
The judge announced the verdict reserved earlier and rejected the ACE officials’ request for further physical remand of Chaudhary Parvez Elahi. The judge sent him to jail on the judicial remand.
The Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) had taken PervaizElahi into custody on accusations of appointing Muhammad Khan Bhatti as his principal secretary during his tenure as the chief minister.
