Dengue cases declined in Rawalpindi

Dengue cases have declined in Rawalpindi during the past week, with the city recording a sharp drop in new infections.

According to District Coordinator for Epidemic Dr. Sajjad Mehmood, 2,262 confirmed cases of dengue have been reported in the district this year, compared to 1,502 in 2021 and 4,230 in 2022.

Currently, 73 dengue patients are under treatment in hospitals, out of which 51 are in Holy Family Hospital, 16 in District Headquarters Hospital, 3 Wah General Hospital, two in Kallar Syedan and one in Tehsil Headquarters Hospital of Taxila. One patient is in critical condition.

Dr. Sajjad said that the district administration has registered 4,275 FIRs for violations of anti-dengue SOPs in various areas since January 1. The administration has also sealed 631 premises, challaned 1267 and imposed a fine of Rs.92,90,304.
