ISLAMABAD- Kashmiris worldwide unite for Kashmir Black Day on October 27th, denouncing India’s illegal occupation of their homeland.

This somber occasion marks the day in 1947 when Indian forces, disregarding the Partition Plan’s principles, forcefully seized Jammu and Kashmir against the will of the Kashmiri people.

A complete shutdown is observed in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, as a symbol of protest. People across the globe, including those in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, will engage in protest marches, rallies, and seminars to condemn the Indian Army’s invasion on October 27, 1947, and the revocation of Kashmir’s special status by the Modi-led government on August 5, 2019.

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has called upon the international community to take concrete actions to hold India accountable for its actions in occupied Kashmir. In his statement, he emphasized that since August 5, 2019, there has been a relentless effort to impose Indian culture and influence in Kashmir, disempowering the local population in their own land.

Former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also expressed solidarity with the Kashmiries and condemned the Indian atrocities in the held valley.

The Indian occupation has undertaken a series of measures to achieve this goal, including manipulating electoral constituencies, adding non-Kashmiris to voter lists, granting domicile certificates to outsiders, and introducing new laws regarding land and property ownership.
