Crackdown on overpricing vendors, six arrested

In a crackdown on commodities overpricing, the Assistant Commissioner of PothoharAwaidIrshadBhatti, visited the vegetable market area and arrested six vendors for selling vegetables at higher than government notified rates.

The Assistant Commissioner also inspected the area to ensure that all vendors were complying with the government rates and selling items at wholesale rates. Warnings were issued to other violators.

This crackdown is a welcome move, as it will help to ensure that consumers are not overcharged for vegetables. It is also a reminder to vendors that they must comply with the government rates.

Moreover,Assistant Commissioner (Secretariat), AneelSaeed, along with Traffic Police, inspected different markets to check the price of essential items, use of unauthorized plastic bags, and the high fares at public transport.

The AC, following the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon, inspected intra- and inter-city vehicles to check the revised and reduced fares and issued challans to those violating the government rates.
