The 12th death anniversary of Begum Nusrat Bhutto, wife of former premier Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, was observed with solemnity on Monday. According to Pakistan People’s Party sources, the partys Lahore chapter held Quran Khawani at the PPP Central Punjab office here. Nusrat Bhutto was mother of Benazir Bhutto.
She was born on March 23, 1928 and passed away in Dubai on October 23, 2011 after a protracted illness. She was elected Member of National Assembly (MNA) twice from Larkana in 1988 and 1993. Party’s former senator Sehar Kamran, while paying homage to Nusrat Bhutto, said she was an iron lady, who stood by her husband and strived for democracy.
