The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Lahore has suspended five officials allegedly involved in a case of kidnapping of a man for Rs 30 million ransom.
According to sources, the suspended officials have been instructed to report to the Cyber Crime Circle in Islamabad as part of the disciplinary proceedings.
All the suspended officials were ordered to report to the Cyber Crime Circle Islamabad.
A case has also been registered against the accused in Anti-Corruption Circle Lahore.
These developments come when a Lahore citizen identified as Majid,lodged a complaint with the Lahore FIA cybercrime cell.
He reported that he had been abducted from Haripur by individuals named Inspector Waqas,Fakhar, Abbas, Musadiq, and Hamza.
They held him captive for two days and had taken a ransom of Rs30 million for his release.
All the accused are contractual employees of the FIA, and they also
threatened the victim following his complaint to the cybercrime cell.
A departmental inquiry is going on against the accused, punishments will be given according to the inquiry report, FIA officials held.
It was noted that Inspector Waqas and Inspector Musadiq had gone to
Haripur under false pretenses, claiming to be on a special assignment at the advice of the Additional Director Official recommendations have been made to terminate the employment of the accused officers, as the case is substantiated by evidence showing that they had amassed assets beyond their legitimate income within a short span of time.
