In a response to a question put to him by a journalist to know his views about the Supreme Court’s verdict to reject pleas challenging the Practice and Procedure Act, former federal minister Asad Umar said Thursday that the Supreme Court’s judgement was correct. “Will Nawaz Sharif come back?” another question was put to him to which he replied: “After the Supreme Court’s judgement, it is better to ask whether Nawaz Sharif will come or not.”
He said to the journalist who asked a question about the return of Nawaz Sharif: “Why is Shehbaz Sharif happy after the Supreme Court’s verdict? This is my innocent question from you.” The journalist said to him there was one court judgement that both PTI and Shehbaz Sharif were happy with it.
“The PTI chairman is in jail in the cipher case while you have got relief,” Asad Umar was asked another question. “The accusation in the cipher case is that those who received it did not use it properly. We, however, believe that we used it according to the law. The cipher is moved among four persons including the prime minister, foreign minister, army chief and the DG ISI,” he replied.
“Where did the planning minister come from into this? Only my name has been mentioned in the case,” he added. “Will you too go to a TV programme as Usman Dar and Sadaqat Abbasi did.—INP
