A legislative body of Upper House of parliament on Monday expressed dissatisfaction over delay in appointment of 321 vacant position in Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA).
They also directed the ministry of science and technology for identification of promotion quotas and direct recruitment quotas to clear the huge backlog, which accumulated for the last several years. These directions were issued during the Senate Standing Committee on Science and Technology which held today at the Ministry of Science of Technology Islamabad, while Senator Sardar Muhammad Shafiq Tareen was on chair. Chairman of the committee emphasized the importance of adhering to provincial quota rules.
At the outset, the committee received a comprehensive briefing on the number of employees currently serving in look after charge and on deputation basis in the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA). The committee was informed that there are currently 321 vacant positions within the department. Committee members raised concerns about the delay in the appointment process. The Director-General of PSQCA attributed this delay to ongoing court cases and employee representations demanding promotions, which hindered new appointments.
