Interim Minister Health Dr SaadNiaz made an impromptu visit to Lyari General Hospital. He specifically visited the gynaecologist and emergency wards and the operation theatre. He made a note of the lack of cleanliness and hygienic practices that were obvious on the premises. He also declared that lack of funds cannot be an excuse for the lack of cleanliness that a health facility should demonstrate.
It is entirely possible to have the hospital be clean with fewer funds so this is an unacceptable reason to force the patients to be treated amongst substandard conditions.Shirking responsibilities will be a punishable offence and the in charge of the emergency ward was issued a warning as to falling short of his responsibilities.
DrSaadNiaz said that it is the duty of all healthcare providers and personnel to fulfill their role to best of their capacity through any means possible.Interim Minister Health also made rounds of the Lyari Medical College where he also met the students that are enrolled there. He inquired what the standard of education being provided there is like, the security on campus and the facilities available there.
He also made note that people using paan, ghutka and chewing tobacco will not be permitted to enter the hospital premises. Inebriation substances will be completely forbidden and banners for this awareness should be posted up in all different locations.
