KP Governor, Iranian Consul general discuss promotion of bilateral, trade ties

Consul-General of Iran Ali Banafshekhah on Tuesday called on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Haji Ghulam Ali at the Governor House, and discussed further strengthening of bilateral and trade relations between both the neighbouring countries.

Governor Haji Ghulam Ali congratulated Ali Banafshekhah on assuming the responsibilities of the Consul General of Iran on a permanent basis, saying Iran was a brotherly neighbouring Islamic country.

He said the people of both countries were tied in the bonds of love and respect for each other. He stressed need for the exchange of delegations of trade, journalists, youth and skilled women, which would not only further cement the bilateral relations but also promote the soft image of two countries. He also emphasized that small and large scale commercial activities between Pakistan and Iran should be promoted and said that joint venture in trade sectors between Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan and Turkey would be a positive initiative.

The Iranian Consul General welcomed the Governor’s proposals for the exchange of delegations in various fields, including the promotion of trade activities, said Iran was willing to have bilateral cooperation in all areas, including trade in Pakistan including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He said that the Pak-Iran Gas Line project was a very important project for both countries, as its completion would start the era of prosperity in the region.

He said that Pakistan and Iran had ancient cultural and friendly relations. The Consul General said that markets set up at the Pak-Iran would promote land route trade between the two countries.—APP
