City Reporter In view of near shutdown of water supply to DHA from 3rd Feb. to 7th February an 8-member delegation of CBC elected body, led by VP Aziz Suharwardy, met CM’s Advisor on Law Murtaza Wahab & MD KWSB in his office on Thursday. Discussion and arguments regarding the persistent short supply of water even in winter months was highlighted by CBC elected members. A heated discussion with the KWSB officials including their GM Bulk Supply & Engineers regarding denial of supply to the only organization paying water charges timely to KWSB took place. The MD KWSB pointed out that Karachi needs 1300 MGD but presently a maximum of 550 MGD was available including supply from Hub Dam. When questioned about new pump house & increase of supply expected due to new pumps it was learnt that it would be effective in 3-4 weeks. It was finally resolved with a commitment by the Advisor & MD KWSB that supply would be increased by 1.5- 2 MGD as soon as all the new pumps start operation. A follow up meeting will be held next week with KWSB team to iron out further problems on ground. The delegation comprising elected members M. Jamil, Zikar Mehnti, Shafqat Tanoli, Kaka Shah and Hameed Chandio appreciated the promise of the Advisor for increase in water supply to CBC area.
