Tim Southee recently opened up about the chal-lenges Indian batters have historically encountered when pitted against left-arm pacers.
Speaking at the Ceat Cricket Rating Award event, Southee mentioned the prowess of Shaheen Afridi and Trent Boult, acknowledging their ability to trouble batsmen consistently throughout their careers.
“I don’t know what it is, but it was always handy to have a left-armer — something probably people don’t face a lot of. Those two guys that you mentioned, Shaheen Shah and Trent Boult, are quality bowlers and have caused a lot of players headaches over the years,” Southee said.
However, Southee remains optimistic, suggest-ing that India will devise effective strategies to counter the threat posed by bowlers such as Shaheen and Boult.
“I do not think it is too much of an issue. I’m sure the Indian players — world-class players — will have solid game plans to whoever bowler they come up against,” he added.—Agencies
