More monsoon rains expected in upper parts of country

The weather department forecast more monsoon rains for the upper parts of the country and parts of Balochistan between August 13 and August 16. Advising the concerned departments to remain on a high alert, the Met Office said that moist currents from the Arabian Sea were penetrating upper parts of the country.

“While westerly winds will also start impacting the upper and northern parts from August 13,” it said, adding, “The entry of these winds will produce showers in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), Murree, Rawalpindi and Islamabad and upper parts of Punjab.”

Elaborating further, the Met Office said that rains were expected in different parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) between August 14 and August 16. Similarly, it forecast rains accompanied by strong winds for Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Musakhel, Barkhan, Zhob and Kalat on August 15 and August 16. Temperature of some major cities recorded. Islamabad twenty-seven degree centigrade, Lahore thirty, Karachi twenty-eight.—INP
