Reality of Jinnah house

Quaid-i-Azam was a very successful lawyer and a man of taste, who owned luxurious houses in Bombay, Delhi, Karachi and one in Lahore, (House No 53) located in Lahore Cantonment. When MAJ wanted possession of his house from tenants, it was not to the liking of Premier Punjab Khizr Hayat Tawana, the Viceroy and Governor Punjab, who did not wish him to spend more time here.

The Quaid realized the importance of Punjab and the need to focus on it. It must be mentioned here that there were two houses (No 43 and 54), adjacent to each other, spread over many acres, and only MAJ’s property became an issue. In a notification dated 17 August 1944, the Punjab Government appointed GD Khosla, ICS, District and Sessions Judge Lahore, as an arbitrator, to determine the amount of compensation, payable to the owner of House no 53. Shortly after publication of this notification Mr Khosla proceeded on short leave for 20 days from 02/09/44 to 10/10/44 and was promoted as judge in Lahore High Court.

The Raj understood the sensitivity of the matter and finally appointed a Muslim ICS officer as DSJ Lahore on 1st February 1945, who ordered acquisition under Defence of India Act on 12May 1945. The title of ownership of the house, however, remained in the name of MAJ. When Ayub Khan took over in 1958, and Fatima Jinnah wanted possession, they changed the title of ownership and forced compensation, depriving Quaid’s legal heirs of their right of inheritance. This is the bitter reality and the bias or tyranny of Ayub Khan and Wajid Ali Burki who stooped so low.

Show respect for the National Flag

The National Flag of a country is a symbol of the nation’s pride and respect. There is liberal use of the flag on Independence Days. There is a new trend of selling flags made of paper and plastic, which is incorrect.

With a sense of national pride, people enthusiastically buy such flags but the very next day, we find them being trampled upon on roads and thrown into dustbins. By allowing this to happen, people forget that they are insulting the flag.

Often, these flags are burnt along with the garbage. It is the duty of every individual to maintain proper respect towards the National Flag. We also commonly see people waving the National Flag proudly during national, cultural and sporting events. However, once the programme or the event gets over, we see the flags strewn all over the place. This disrespect towards our flag must be stopped.

Even when the national anthem is played on radio or on television, people don’t stand still and sing along. They are busy cooking in the kitchen or are busy talking on their mobile phones. As citizens, we should respect our country’s national flag, national anthem and national song.

Story behind multivitamins

A pill or medicine which contains several vitamins and acts as a sidekick booster in the human body is called multivitamin. Multivitamins were, initially, introduced in the 1930s and 1940s to counter diseases like rickets. However, during Second World War soldiers utilized supplementary products to dilute need for food at harsh positions. But post-pandemic era, Covid-19 event, aggrandized consumption of supplements because it convinced consumers simple way to counter against harmful bio molecules.

Over half of the Americans consume multivitamins to enhance physical potential and other beauty purposes. These products are available in various forms: gummy bears, vitamin coffee, vitamin E cigarettes, vitamin vodka and etc. Pertinent forms of supplements in different flavours attract people of sundry mindsets. The supplement industry is one of richest industries in the world, earning worth almost $300 billion. One can find multivitamins at supermarkets, social media platforms and besides our homes at local shops.

Physician’s Health Study summed up research between 1997 to 2011 over the consumption of multivitamins and productive output of health benefits. More than 14000 people participated, half were ingesting multivitamin pills and half took placebo pills (dummy pills). At the end, no clear benefits were observed between both groups.

Resultantly, these products pose zero efficacious output upon consumer’s health. Then why, majority utilize supplementary goods if it exhibits minuscule ambition on health improvement. Its scientific reason has been predicted as the ‘placebo effect’. When an individual begins consuming multivitamin, they, too, look after their daily routine, a balanced diet which revamps body’s overall potential and performance.
