The deputy of Urban Services and Environmental Protection of Kabul Municipality added that in the last year, the department has collected more than four billion Afghani and they have destroyed about 200,000 tons of outdated and low-quality food.
“Last year, Kabul Municipality implemented 25 projects, based on which 66 kilometers of roads and alleys were completed,” said Mohammad Khalid Sajistanini, The deputy of Urban Services and Environmental Protection of Kabul Municipality.
According to the department, so far 1,300 acres of land that were illegally grabbed have been reclaimed.
“Kabul Municipality reclaimed 1,300 acres of land that had been illegally grabbed by various people,” said Nematullah Barakzai, Spokesman for Kabul Municipality.
Officials said the planting of 6,000 plants, the surveying of 3,692 buildings, the transfer of more than 400,000 tons of garbage out of the city, and discussions with several companies to produce electricity from garbage, are accomplishments of the department from the past year.
“The size of all the roads included in the plan for 1402 is 404,349 kilometers,” said Mohammad Qasim Afghan, Head of the Plan and Policy of the Department.
The statistics of Kabul Municipality show that 75% of houses and buildings in Kabul city were built in a non-planned manner.
Based on the information of Kabul Municipality, 150 projects are currently underway in the capital, including 125 construction projects, and the department has allocated most of its budget to the road construction sector.
