The Lahore police have registered a case against the workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for obstructing the arrest of the PTI chairman by snatching rifles from policemen and disrupting peace.
More than 10 provisions were included in the First Information Report (FIR) lodged at Race Course police station on the complaint of Station House Officer (SHO) Rehan Anwar.
“We went (to Zaman Park) to arrest the PTI chairman on court orders,” the text of the FIR read. “The agitated PTI workers manhandled the police team,” it added.
Meanwhile, many people, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s ex-MNA Salim-ur-Rehman’s uncle Rafiq-ur-Rehman, have been arrested during a protest held in Upper Swat to condemn the arrest of Imran Khan.
Reportedly, the family members of former MNA Salim-ur-Rehman gave a protest call against the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan in their native village of Upper Swat.
But the police obstructed their protest call and arrested the former MNA’s uncle and several other supporters of the PTI.
Police arrested a number of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf’s local leaders of Haripur on Sunday after the arrest of Chairman PTI Imran Khan. Police registered a case against the arrested workers under section 186 and other provisions.
The arrested workers were produced before the local duty magistrate’s court who sent them to jail on 15-day judicial remand.
Among the arrested workers and local leaders, General Secretary PTI Hazara Allah Yar Khan, chairman city Azeem Khan and chairman PTI Khulabut Aslam Hayat Khan were included.
