Despite the vast geographic distances, Pakistan and Morocco share a remarkable history of bilateral relations featuring mutual respect, support and cooperation.
These views were expressed by Federal Minister for Education & Professional Training Rana Tanveer Hussain while addressing as Chief Guest a reception marking 24th Anniversary of the Accession to The Throne of King Mohammed VI of Morocco.
Ambassador of Morocco Mohammed Karmoune and his spouse had hosted the well-organized reception at their residence.
The event was attended by members of diplomatic community, scholars, intellectuals and representatives of media and civil society.
The guests felicitated ‘Brother Karmoune’ and prayed for the health and happiness of King Mohamed VI and progress and prosperity of the people of Morocco.
Prominent among them were Custodian of Eidgah Sharif, Pir Naqib-ur-Rehman, Editor-in-Chief of Pakistan Observer Faisal Zahid Malik, Consul General of Morocco in Karachi, Mirza Ishtiaq Baig, Dean of Diplomatic Corps, Ambassador of Turkmenistan, Atadjan Movlamov, ambassadors from the African and the Arab countries, French envoy, high commissioner of Australia and others.
While congratulating the Moroccan Ambassador and his wife, Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain said both the countries were cooperating in various fields such as business, education, culture, tourism and defence sectors, however, still there was immense scope between the two to take advantage of each other’s untapped potential.
Earlier, Ambassador Karmoune in his brief welcome address thanked the guests for gracing the occasion. Morocco’s remarkably developed infrastructure and strategic location provide ample opportunities for expanding relations with Pakistan, he said.
People-to-people contact can play a crucial role in this area, allowing for greater exploration of international opportunities, especially in light of Pakistan’s current economic conditions.
Pakistani businessmen while talking to Pakistan Observer were of the view that with its developed infrastructure, strong diplomatic relations with Pakistan, and cost-effective living, Morocco presented an attractive option for Pakistani individuals looking to explore opportunities abroad for study and business.
A cake was also cut on the occasion to wish His Majesty King Mohamed VI a long and healthy life. The guests were served with traditional Moroccan ‘couscous’ and mint tea.
