Shane Warne’s brother Jason Warne attended the roadshow in Melbourne, Australia last week. This was revealed by Chalaka Gajabahu, the chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB). The tourism minister Harin Fernando and a few delegates returned on Sunday from Australia, where the roadshow was conducted in a few cities there.

Speaking exclusively over the telephone from Melbourne, Jason Warne, the brother of Late Shane, said, “It was an honour and a privilege to be asked to attend the Sri Lankan tourism event in Melbourne and say a few words about the wonderful country and people”.

“I have only had amazing experiences in the country and it is great to see them bouncing back after the economic hardships they experienced last year”.

“Sri Lanka is truly one of the great tourism destinations full of beauty, history, culture with sensational food, hospitality and beaches”, he further added.

The Warne family’s love for the country is well-known.

Back in early 2005 at the request of Muttiah Muralidaran, Warne had visited the seaside community on Sri Lanka’s south coast, one of many that had been flattened by the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami.

No foreign cricketer has ever captured the hearts of Sri Lankans quite like Shane Warne did.

Last year, Jason Warne and his wife visited Sri Lanka upon the invitation of the Minister of Tourism, in commemoration of dedicating the first match of the Test series (held on the 29th of June 2022) between Sri Lanka and Australia to the legendary cricketer Shane Warne.
