The National University of Technology (NUTECH) has been making strides since its start in 2018 and today it is recognized among 2023’s top 100 most innovative universities in the world. The World University Ranking for Innovation (WURI), the global ranking agency, has ranked NUTECH ‘51-100’ in the world in terms of innovation.
This was shared by Rector of the NUTECH, Lt Gen (R) Moazzam Ejaz while briefing the media in the university’s auditorium on Friday. He said the recognition by the world ranking agency was a great honour not only for the university, its students and faculty but for the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the country too. Our youth, he said if provided a proper platform to display talent, can compete and make their mark at the world level.
The NUTECH he said had employed innovative methods as its faculty is highly-trained from the world-recognized universities and always emphasized on practical training. The students have undertaken various innovative projects with full support of the university. “Currently, the university’s own designed ventilator and dialysis machine are under trial and soon they will be in the market,” he said. In NUTECH, every student is given equal opportunity, said the Rector and added the university had prepared a 4-year programme on the industry feedback. The programme has been prepared after carefully studying world’s top universities. The NUTECH, he said, was the only university of the country that covered all levels of technical education. Of its 8 levels, first four i.e. I-IV are certificate levels, the level-V is diploma in technical education while the level-VI is BS level and VII and VIII are about the Masters and Ph.D. To a question, the Rector of NUTECH said currently around 1,000 students were enrolled at the NUTECH and in order to enhance its outreach, various awareness sessions are being held in far flung areas such as Southern Punjab, parts of Balochistan and rest of the country. Registrar of the university, Dr Adnan Qasim on the occasion briefed the media persons about various projects undertaken by the university, its future goals and cooperation with industry and the foreign universities in various areas that include skill development, Industrial IT, machine learning, hi-tech Artificial Intelligence (AI), Fashion Designing, hospitality industry, etc.
NUTECH’s aim was to become a world class technology-driven university and the university’s motto was ‘University for Investment.’ The NUTECH is affiliated and accredited with all the accreditation bodies and councils including PEC, QAB, etc. To a question, Rector NUTECH said, currently the university was providing 32 need-based scholarships and 404 merit scholarships. About partnership with foreign universities, he said 12 students were receiving training in Italy’s prestigious university while one in Germany. A group of NUTECH students is currently studying in Japan as well. All these students on their return will contribute to the industrial, IT, hospitality industry and AI sectors, he hoped.About the university, industry linkages he said the university was in constant touch with chambers of commerce and Industry in big cities like Islamabad, Karachi, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Gujrat and Gujranwala, etc and they were on board with the students.
