Chief Secretary (CS) Punjab, Zahid Akhtar Zaman, has issued directives to intensify operations against illegal construction activities in the scenic town of Murree.
According to a district administration spokesman, during a significant meeting held in Murree, which focused on tackling illegal constructions, traffic issues, and renovation projects, Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman instructed the concerned authorities to take strict action against building by-law violations and encroachments.
Prominent figures present at the meeting included Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, Liaquat Ali Chatha, Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Hasan Waqar Cheema, Director-General of the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Ahmed Hasan Ranjha, Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Murree Qasim Ijaz, and Assistant Commissioner Murree Kamran Hussain.
The Deputy Commissioner provided a comprehensive briefing on various projects.
Emphasizing the need for scrutiny, the Chief Secretary stated that all commercial buildings in Murree should undergo audits, and strict action should be taken against any deviations from approved building plans.
Furthermore, commercial buildings lacking proper parking facilities on the roadside should be immediately sealed, he added. The Chief Secretary also directed authorities to expedite the patchwork of roads in Murree and ensure that all roadside structures are aesthetically painted to enhance the town’s visual appeal.
Zahid Akhtar Zaman stressed the importance of a comprehensive renovation plan to enhance the beauty of Murree, assuring that all necessary funds would be provided to complete the project within the shortest possible timeframe.
He instructed the administration to expand the Monsoon afforestation campaign and adorn Murree with vibrant flowers and ornamental plants. In terms of cleanliness, the Chief Secretary issued directives for special measures to be taken, emphasizing the significance of maintaining cleanliness at tourist spots and implementing an effective garbage removal and disposal system. The Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the active participation of all relevant departments in restoring Murree’s natural beauty.
Liaquat Ali Chatha informed that the PHA had made special arrangements for planting roadside flowers during the monsoon season.
