The Karachi Police is revamping the emergency response mechanism on modern international standards. A dedicated Deputy Inspector General (DIG) is now operational incharge of Madadgar Command Control (MCC-15) and other associated services. Talking to media persons, DIG Maqsood Ahmed, head of Security Units of Karachi Police, including the MCC-15 said that, the Security and Emergency Division comprises various Police units working together to strengthen the MCC 15. The functions of revamped MCC 15 are, first responders to all emergency calls, hot pursuit of criminals, prevention of Street Crimes, surveillance of anti-social elements, snap checking, information gathering, public facilitation and help, SOS Alerts and coordination with Emergency Services. He added that, the MCC 15 now responds to any situation within 9 minutes. The earlier response time was 30 minutes. The Force shall be equipped with modern gadgets and tools including Mobile Tablet, Security Cameras, Wireless communication and Trackers.The Force will have access to Identity Verification System (IVS) to check genuineness of CNIC, Vehicle Verification System (VVS) to identify unregistered and stolen vehicles and motorcycles, Criminal Record Verification (CRV) to check criminal history of a person, Incident Tagging to capture details of any incident, surveillance of persons released from Jails, Tenants Information System (TIS) and Traffic Management etc. DIG Ahmed said that a proper monitoring mechanism shall be in place by establishing a separate Command Desk at Command and Control Center Karachi to monitor the activities of the force. The location and movement of each patrol vehicle shall be recorded, live streaming of the all response vehicles shall be monitored, snap checking will also be recorded and instructions shall be communicated from the command desk. Maqsood Ahmed while describing the MCC-15 improvements said that they have made some major improvements so far without incurring any additional expenditure. After establishment of Security and Emergency Service Division Karachi, the following improvements have been made at MCC-15 Karachi: A full time SSP Abdullah Memon looks after day to day matters, Manpower at Emergency Services has been increased from 1100 to 2200 Police Personnel. Previously 106 police mobiles were deployed for 15 emergency services, now 40 and 30 additional vehicles from SSU and Muhafiz Force respectively are being utilized for Emergency calls. Additional personnel of SSU deployed at Madadgar Call Centre. Moreover, 7 Deployment Centers have been established in each district of Karachi and Range, where from, all fleet and ground staff is dispatched for duty in order to give quick response. Two DSPs in two shifts are deployed in each zone for supervision & monitoring the deployment Centres. He added that a Bio-metric attendance system installed at every deployment centre for proper monitoring and supervision of manpower. KOT is established at every deployment centre. 3 rd has been shift started for enhanced the performance. At present 15 emergency mobiles are working around the clock. The deployed strength of emergency services is facilitated with accommodation at four places (CTD Building PTC Saeedabad, Chowkandi Base, Headquarter Khawaja Ajmair Nagri and Garden Headquarter Karachi.
