University of Karachi has approved award of the PhD degree to the Metropolitan Commissioner of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Dr Syed Saif-ur-Rehman in “The Role of District Administration in Health Care Management”. Dr Syed Saif-ur-Rehman is a grade 20 officer of Pakistan Administrative Service who conducted research on this special subject of control and elimination of the deadly disease like polio virus.
He gave reference to the polio eradication campaign run in Karachi from 2005 to 2014 in his thesis and the syndicate of the University of Karachi approved the award of PhD (Doctor of philosophy) degree to him on this work. Being an officer of Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS), Dr Syed Saif-ur-Rehman has worked on various important posts including as the Commissioner of district Zhob (Baluchistan) and provincial coordinator for emergency operation centre for eradication of polio and EPI program.
He also worked as the deputy commissioner of district central Karachi and executive district officer (EDO) of E&IP group of offices of defunct city district government Karachi.
