The street and other organized crime rate has surged in the city perhaps due to engagement of police for political reasons. The non-stop series of incidents in Lahore continues, more than 400 incidents took place in the city during 24 hours, a couple of days back. According to police sources, 5 shop robberies, 2 house robberies, 2 street crimes, 2 car thefts, 5 motorcycle thefts, 3 burglaries, 116 motorcycle thefts and 337 miscellaneous incidents were reported. According to the police, during the robbery in Kahanna area, the robber shot Mubasher in the leg and escaped without looting. Thieves stole paint and chemicals worth Rs 19.10 lakh from Siddique Ali’s paint shop in Hanjarwal area. They also looted dyes worth Rs. 30 lakh from Shiraz Butt’s warehouse in Kahana area. Bandits in the Kot Lakhpat area remained rampant. One million rupees and a mobile phone were stolen from Hasan Rashid and bandits escaped.
Similarly, they broke into the house of Muhammad Ahmed in Hanjarwal area and fled after stealing cash, gold ornaments and mobile phones worth Rs. 5 lakh from the house. Gold and cash worth 18 lakh 91 thousand, 8 tolas of gold and cash escaped after snatching 62 thousand rupees at gunpoint from the shop of Mazhar Liaquat in Shahdara town area.
Dacoits looted Rs. 32,000 rupees from Asif’s pharmacy in Mustafaabad area at gunpoint, 20,000 rupees from Adil’s medical store at gunpoint in Township area and escaped. In the Sunder area bandits looted Rs. One lac at gunpoint and escaped. Bandits escaped after looting Rs. 9.3 million from one Nasir’s super store in Sabzazar area.
In the same way, robbers snatched a motorcycle and cash from Asim in South Cantonment, Raffakat Ali in North Cantonment, Arsim Ashfaq from Mughalpura, Imran in Sundar, Hammood Shafi from Faisal Town at Gun Point. Thieves took the car of Asghar and Arshad from Sabzazar area, the police registered cases and started investigation.
Incidents of stealing mobile phones started increasing in Lahore. During the first 5 months of this year, 701 cases of theft of mobile phones were registered. City Division was leading in cases of theft of mobile phones, while 205 cases were registered in City Division during 5 months. Model Town Division stood second with 150 cases of mobile phone theft and Iqbal Town Division stood third with 120 cases of mobile phone theft. The Cantt Division recorded 96 cases of mobile phone theft.
70 cases were registered in Sadar Division and 60 cases were registered in Civil Lines Division. According to the sources, the registered cases of mobile phone snatching are much higher because most of the victims do not apply at the police station to avoid police misbehavior and harassment.
