Evacuations from Thatta coastal towns counties as severe cyclone inches closer

The evacuation drive in coastal villages and islands was continuing as a storm Biparjoy could hit parts of India and Pakistan. A picturesque coastal region in Pakistan, is currently facing the imminent threat of a cyclone.

In response to this potential disaster, approximately 30 thousand residents from Thatta’s coastline cities, including Ketibander, Kharochhan, Jooho, and several other villages located on the islands of the Arabian Sea, have been evacuated. Even the fishermen, who were out at sea, swiftly returned and anchored their boats to seek safety from the approaching cyclone.

The cyclone, anticipated to strike the Karachi,Thatta and Sujawal, Badin coasts on Tuesday, has prompted a coordinated rescue operation led by various agencies, including the Pakistani Army, the Maritime Agency, the Police Revenue, and other dedicated officials from different departments. The tireless efforts of these brave men and women are crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of the affected population.

In the midst of this calamity, notable figures such as Haji Ali Hassan Zardari, the PPP MPA of the constituency, along with his dedicated team comprising Ashique Hussain Zardari, Andul Hameed Panhwar, Shah Nawaz Lohar, and Ali Shar Brohi, have taken charge of supervising the ongoing rescue and relief operations. They are working diligently to register the affected individuals in well-organized camps, where they will receive the necessary support and care.
