Sindh Minister for Information and Labour Saeed Ghani has said that in accordance with the Police Law it is not mandatory for the provincial government to consult with Governor Sindh before requesting the federal government for the replacement of Inspector General of Police. The minister expressed surprise at the decision of the federal cabinet, saying that no approval was sought from the federal cabinet at the time of replacement of Inspectors General of Police in Punjab and KP. He was talking to the journalists after inaugurating as chief guest the Job Fair & Startup Expo, organised by Iqra University on Wednesday. Ghani said that Sindh government would not consult Governor on the issue of the replacement of Inspector General Police, adding it was illegal to consult with a Governor regarding the appointment of IG because he had nothing to do with this appointment. He said that the Sindh government had already given five names to the federal government for the appointment of IGP and added that, no other name would be added to the list. Ghani said that the Prime Minister had also been contacted constantly over the issue of replacement of Inspector General of Police, Sindh, and he too had consented for the same as well. The provincial Minister for information said that he felt that the current federal cabinet wanted his own prime minister to face embarrassment over the issue of IGP, Sindh. He said that when the Prime Minister had shown his consent about an issue, then no federal minister had the right to disagree over it. Saeed Ghani clarified that there was no difference to opinion or deadlock between the Sindh government and the federal government regarding the replacement of IG Sindh before the federal cabinet meeting held on December 28. The situation changed drastically after this meeting of the federal cabinet; provincial Minister of Information added. He said that he would once again request that let not make the people of Sindh and elected representatives of the province realized that they were second class countrymen. Responding to a question about the court’s decision regarding DIG Khadim Hussain Rind and SSP Dr Rizwan Ahmed, Saeed Ghani said that the decision of the court had to be respected, whether you like it or not.
