Central Press Club Gilgit organized a press (CPCG) freedom day ceremony, Chief Election Commissioner Gilgit-Baltistan Raja Shehbaz also administered oath to the newly elected cabinet of Central Press Club. Chief Election Commissioner Gilgit Raja Shehbaz, CEO GBRSP Abdul Latif, senior officers of PID, PIC, Radio Pakistan APP and IDGB, local journalists and others participated in the ceremony.
Chief Election Commissioner Raja Shehbaz who was the chief guest while addressing the ceremony said that the service that journalists are doing in the society are praiseworthy. It is not an easy task to do journalism in the problematic conditions of Gilgit, be it public issues or elections, local journalists have performed their services beyond the scope. I pay tribute to all the journalists for their excellent journalistic services.
Speaking at the ceremony, Coordinator Human Rights Israr Ahmed emphasized on the immediate implementation of the Right to Access to Information law for journalists and discussed taking concrete measures regarding the life and financial protection of journalists and their monthly publications.
Addressing the event, other speakers also paid special tribute to the valuable services of local journalists in the field of journalism in the history of Gilgit-Baltistan. Certificates of appreciation for the best performance of journalists were also distributed in the ceremony.
