Wheat smuggling bid foiled

Officers of district administration and PASSCO foiled attempt to smuggle heavy quantity of wheat to KP and different areas of the Punjab from Hafizabad and taken 10 trucks loaded with more than six thousand sacks of 1000 kg each to government custody. According to details, Deputy Commissioner Hafizabad Umer Farooq Warriach was imposed ban on carrying wheat out of the district Hafizabad and special check posts were setup all entry and exist points of the district.

Zonal Manager PASSCO Mukaram Javed told that government was imposed restriction to take wheat out of the district but some people were trying to smuggle wheat to KPK and other areas. On Wednesday, 10 trucks reached at Qadirabad, Chak Chathah, Iqbal Nagar and other check posts and officers appointed at check posts checked suspected trucks and taken into custody 10 trucks loaded with more than six thousand sacks of 1000 kg wheat each. Mukaram Javed said that trucks shifted to Iqbal Nagar PASSCO purchase centres while legal action was being taken against smugglers.

Meanwhile, DC Umer Farooq Wariach visited different wheat procurement centres to review arrangements for providing facilities to farmers and witnessed process of distribution of ‘Bardana’ among growers.
