ISLAMABAD
Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Interior, former interior minister and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senior leader Senator A Rehman Malik on Saturday at a press conference released a letter addressed to Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi urging him to file a lawsuit against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for crime against humanity in occupied Kashmir. Not only Modi his accomplices should also be brought to justice for their crimes against humanity and genocide in Indian occupied Kashmir, said Rehman Malik. While addressing the media persons, Rehman Malik asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs Shah Mehmood Qureshi to follow the precedent set by Gambian Minister of Justice and Attorney General Mr Abubacarr Marie Tambadou who picked up the courage and presented the case of Rohingyan massacre before the ICJ and won it proudly. “If a small country like Gambia can stand for Rohingyan Muslims why can’t Pakistan go for their own oppressed brothers and sisters in the occupied Kashmir in the ICJ and ICC,” said the ex-interior minister. I would like to place on record highest appreciation to Mr. Abubacarr Marie Tambadou, Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Republic of the Gambia for filing lawsuit against Ms. Aung San SuuKyi, Ruling Leader of Republic of Myanmar for massacre of Rohingyan Muslims in Myanmar, he further said. Rehman Malik said he along with legal fraternity and human rights organizations will file a lawsuit in the ICJ if the government further hesitated to file the reference. He said the people of Kashmir were witnessing a curfew for over 174 days yet we could not bring any relief to the oppressed people of Kashmir. In his letter Senator A. Rehman Malik has written ‘’I would also like to refer my earlier letter dated 19th November 2019 wherein I had requested you to kindly proceed against India replicating the action taken by Mr. Abubacarr Marie Tambadou, Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Republic of the Gambia against Ms. Aung San SuuKyi, Ruling Leader of Republic of Myanmar for massacre of Rohingyan Muslims in Myanmar.’’ He adds ‘’It must be mentioned here that earlier there were certain apprehensions about this lawsuit filed by Gambian Minister against the Republic of Myanmar but the UN’s highest court has recognized the sufferings of the Rohingyan Muslims, justifying my stance.’’ ‘’The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has ordered the Government of Myanmar to halt acts of genocide against Rohingyan Muslims,” he writes in his letter
