KE directed to submit electrocution incidents report in 48 hours

The Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shallwani held a high level meeting with the Management of K Electric at his office on Friday, the meeting was called in connection with & has taken serious view of the tragic incidents of recent losses of 14 precious lives of innocent citizens including children who electrocuted during monsoon rain wave in the city on Monday last with the KE.
The Commissioner had on behalf of the CM Sindh had shown his stern displeasure over such tragic incident of loss of precious lives and performance /working of the KE during monsoon rains As we have to face the Federal and Provincial Government quarries and waiting for ascertaining the facts and reasons behind this unfortunate happening, KE authorities ought to identify the negligent one, within 48 hours case to case individual details of the incident immediately sent to him.
The Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shalwani has ask over that they have to improve and upgrade its system and operations so that avoid and avert such incident in future, as KE is the only supply the power to them. NEPRA Representative also said that we had already asked them to submit detailed report in the incident as our team from Islamabad has to arrive in this regard to fix the responsibility with facts and figures, which will submit to our Authority within 2 weeks’ time as KE told.
Further we had already asked KE to submit their safety and precautionary measures manual as mandatory of our policy of 2005. Representative of Energy Deptt Sindh M,Ishaq Khuhro has also informed the meeting that our Electric Inspectors had to visit KE as mandatory, now it may be include our officials in the enquiry so that specific responsibility will be established over the true negligent. we had also sought a detailed report about the incidents. Police Authorities has informed that only 1 FIR was registered in Paposh Nagar area, while remaining are only in entries in concerned police stations.
KE authorities has said that we had same feelings over sad incident, no reasons, no justification, but we assure here that who so ever be responsible, will be dealt accordingly. Government may support and assist us to further improve and upgrade our system.
