Bayern Munich shocked the footballing world after deciding to sack Julian Nagelsmann as the first-team manager.

Although the club is yet to make an official announcement, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed the story.

The news apparently caught everyone off guard including Nagelsmann himself and the players.

Despite struggling, by their lofty standards, this season Bayern will still contesting the quarterfinals of the Champions League and is the favourite to win another Bundesliga title as they trail Dortmund by a single point.

But the higher-ups at Bayern Munich have reportedly seen enough of Julian Nagelsmann to believe the club will be better off without him.

The Bavarians have already agreed on terms with Tomas Tuchel to become the team’s new coach with the former Chelsea boss taking over after the international break. His first game in charge will be against Dortmund, his former club.

Nagelsmann was pried away from RB Leipzig by Bayern in 2021 with the 35-year-old seen as a perfect replacement for Hansi Flick to carry the team further.

The results were positive at the start with the German giants winning a 10th straight Bundesliga crown under their new coach but their momentum ran out this year.

Tuchel himself is coming off a poor run with Chelsea so the results remain to be seen.

Bayern will face Manchester City in the Champions League quarterfinals and Freiburg in the DFB Pokal Cup.
