Minister inaugurates ‘Punjab Health Week’

Punjab Provincial Health Minister Dr. Jamal Nasir inaugurated the province-wide ‘Punjab Health Week’ at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Gujar Khan during which more than 400,000 people across the province will get free tests and vaccinations for eight diseases, besides free medicines.

Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Hasan Waqar Cheema, Director Health Services Rawalpindi Dr. Ansar Ishaq, CEO Health Dr. Ehsan Ghani and other relevant officials were also present on this occasion.

Addressing the inaugural function, Health Minister Dr. Jamal Nasir said that the diseases that will be tested during the ‘Punjab Health Week’ include Hepatitis A, B and C, AIDS, Diabetes, TB, Respiratory Diseases and PCR tests, and free vaccination will also be done. He said that during this week women will also be provided with treatment facilities and medicines will also be provided in addition to laboratory tests.

Health Minister Dr. Jamal Nasir said that special camps have been set up in 26 DHQs, 125 THQ hospitals, 108 rural health centers and 36 primary health centers during the ‘Punjab Health Week’ on the instructions of the Chief Minister Punjab. He said that the caretaker government of Punjab is paying special attention to public health to ensure timely provision of high quality health facilities to the people.

Dr. Jamal Nasir said that last week a campaign was launched during which all the prisoners in all the jails across Punjab are being tested free of charge and apart from vaccination they are also being provided medicines.
