Provincial Minister EPD M Rizwan chaired a departmental meeting here in EPD’s committee room on Monday. The minister was briefed about the issues of fuel adulteration business in Lahore and decision taken in the recent meeting under the chairmanship of EPD secretary in her office. Secretary Saima Saeed briefed the minister that a team of all concerned departments being constituted under the chairmanship of Lahore Division commissioner to formulate an action plan to control fuel adulteration business in Lahore. Team members consist of representatives of district administration, Punjab Police, IPWM, EPA, ICI&SD, Transport and HDIP.
Saima Saeed further briefed the minister that team will review the powers delegated to district administration and police under prevailing rules for taking actions against fuel adulteration, visit HDIP laboratory to examine SOPs for sampling and testing of fuel samples, including sampling fess and sample specifications for checking fuel adulteration, devise SOPs for step-wise time-bound actions against smuggled petrol, illegal selling points in residential areas and re-sale of condemned oil and team will present its action plan to commissioner Lahore for seeking his guidance in the matter.
It was also suggested that Lahore commissioner will be invited in the next meeting of cabinet sub-committee on smog to further deliberate the matter, she concluded.
The minister said that matter having immense importance in terms of legal and environmental aspects and progress being monitored by worthy Punjab CM through the cabinet sub-committee meetings. The minister said that our aim was to provide a friendly environment to our children and for this much effort still needed. EPD Secretary, ADS and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
