Pakistan, Kuwait bilateral ties on a steady, upward trajectory

Friends, colleagues greet ‘Brother Nassar’ on Kuwait’s National Day

Ambassador of the State of Kuwait, Nassar Abdulrahman J Almutairi, to mark the 62nd Anniversary of Independence Day and the 32nd Anniversary of the Liberation Day, hosted a reception for the Kuwaiti nationals, his Pakistani, Arab and non-Kuwaiti friends at Serena Hotel.

Federal Minister for Energy (Power Division) was the Chief Guest on the occasion while Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Religious Harmony & Middle East Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, Dean of the African Corps, Moroccan Ambassador Mohammed Karmoune, Ambassadors of the Arab and the African countries were among the prominent guests attending the event.

The reception-cum-dinner was also attended by members of the Pakistani Parliament, officials of the Foreign Ministry, Indonesian Ambassador Adam Tugio, Nepal’s envoy Tapas Adhikari, French Ambassador Nicolas Galey, his deputy Guillaume Dabouis, Japan ambassador Wada Mitsuhiro,European countries’ envoys, serving and retired officers of the Pak Army, diplomats and a large number of the Kuwaiti businessmen, teachers and students. They congratulated Brother Nassar on the auspicious day and wished his country, countrymen and the leadership happiness and health. The illuminating hall of the Serena Hotel where the reception was organized was decorated according to the theme of the Kuwaiti culture and colours of its flag.

Though there were no formal speeches yet there was a feeling of brotherhood and goodwill since both the countries enjoy deep and rich history of friendship marked by trade, tourism, energy and military-to-military cooperation.

Before the dinner, the guests were served with traditional Kuwait tea (Qahwa) and cookies. At the reception that started a little bit late due to the Chief Guest’s delayed arrival, national anthems of Pakistan and Kuwait were played while a cake was also cut on the occasion.

A guest on the occasion while talking to Pakistan Observer said Kuwait and Pakistan enjoyed strong, historic relations and the bilateral relations between the two countries date back to decades old bonds of mutual respect and cooperation. Pakistan imports refined petroleum products from Kuwait and exports textile, food items to Kuwait making the bond stronger, he said.

In the days to come trade and bilateral ties will improve between the two countries, he hoped. While Kuwait continues to play a pivotal role regionally and internationally, people of the country rely on the guidelines and wise policies set by His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
