Pakistani cricket great Javed Miandad has been hospitalised after his health deteriorated, it emerged on Friday. He needed medical attention and was rushed to a local medical facility in the port city.
Former star player, known for his unconventional style of captaincy, is under the doctor’s observation at Karachi hospital. Initial reports suggest Miandad falls in faint after being light-headed.
Miandad, a chronic patient of hypertension and diabetes, was supposed to attend a ceremony near Toll Plaza M9 in the provincial capital but couldn’t make it.
Known for being as the greatest batsman, he holds a hand full of records. His last-ball sixer against archrival India helped him bag his place among top cricketers. Miandad appeared for Men in Green between 1975 and 1996. The former skipper was named among 50 best cricketers of all time by ESPN’s Legends of Cricket.
The former player served as Pakistani coach at times, besides holding key positions on the cricket board. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame by the top cricket governing body.
