Minister assures all-out support for women empowerment

Sindh Minister for Women Empowerment Shehla Raza spoke extensively about the
measures her ministry was taking to empower women and close the gender gaps while addressing a
seminar on "Women in Logistics and Transport — Breaking Barriers" held at local hotel on Saturday."
The chief guest informed the gathering that they were working to strengthen capacities by linking
women with education, skills, business development, financial assistance, market linkages and
knowledge sharing to enable women contribute effectively to the economy. She said that the logistic
and transport industry is definitely an important industry where women need to be injected. The
women’s division would provide every assistance to help women empowerment in this industry so that
they not only contribute in the economy but are able to enjoy their right to control and benefit from the
resources, assets, income, and their own time, as well as the ability to manage risk and improve their
economic status and well-being..The event was organized by Women in Logistic and Transport (WiLAT)
the women’s forum of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in collaboration with the US
consulate. The agenda of the event was to emphasize the role of women in the area of logistic and
transport. The speakers highlighted the growing need for the development of the logistic and transport
sector and the need for diversity in the industry.With global expertise and globally recognized standards
the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport has been influencing and shaping government policies
across many economies and providing the education and training needed for the modern world where
logistic and transport skills matter. SZABIST one of the leading business universities in Pakistan as its
accredited training provider has initiated such programs and is helping provide its students a platform
for pursuing their careers in logistic and transport. Many international speakers spoke about the
opportunities, obstacles and viable solutions for a more diverse force in the logistic and transport
industry. The event concluded with a vote of thanks.
