Bayern Munich’s struggles in the Bundesliga continued with another draw against Eintracht Frankfurt at home to take their streak to three matches since the restart from the winter and world cup break.

Desperately needing a win after drawing against Cologne and RB Leipzig, the home side could only manage a 1-1 stalemate after Leroy Sane’s first-half strike was cancelled out by world cup finalist Randal Kolo Muani.

In a game of few clear-cut chances, it was the hosts who eventually went in front when German international teammates Thomas Muller and Sane combined but put Bayern in front in the 34th minute.

Muller found the winger with a perfect pass before Sane rifled in a shot past Kevin Trapp.

The visitors remained anonymous but surprisingly equalised in the 69th minute through Kolo Muani after the striker was fed a pass by Daichi Kamada and the forward beat France teammate Dayot Upamecano in a one-on-one to drill to score his seventh league goal this season.

Bayern’s superior talent enabled them to create a treble of chances in the remaining 20 minutes of the game but neither side managed to find the winner, settling for a draw.

A third successive draw for Bayern against Frankfurt leaves them with 37 points meaning that Union Berlin, after their 2-0 win over Hertha Berlin, now sits just one point behind the league leaders.

RB Leipzig are third on 35 following their 2-1 win over VfB Stuttgart, with Frankfurt in fifth place on 32.
