Derbyshire has completed the signing of Pakistan’s Haider Ali for the entirety of the 2023 season subject to availability.

The club announced their decision across all social media platforms and their website.

One of the most promising young talents in Pakistan’s arsenal, Ali will join Pakistna’s former coach Mikey Arthur at the club.

“I spoke with him at the T20 World Cup, and again during the Lanka Premier League, and he’s so hungry to come to England prove himself in all formats, that’s exactly the attitude we want in our dressing room”, Arthur said in a statement on the club’s website.

“Of course, he still has a lot of developing to do, but I’ve outlined what I expect from him and I have no doubt Haider will succeed in county cricket.”

Haider Ali was also excited about turning out for Derbyshire this season.

“I’ve seen over the last few years how many Pakistan players have improved their game by playing at a high standard in county cricket, and that’s something I think could really help my development”.

“I want to help Derbyshire win games in all formats, there’s a lot of good players here and Mickey wants to achieve something big with this Club. Hopefully I can contribute a lot of runs in 2023 and entertain the Derbyshire crowd.”

Haider will turn up for Derbyshire in all three competitions unless recalled to the national squad.

The 22-year-old has already represented Pakistan in 35 matches including two appearances at the recent ICC Twenty20 World Cup.

He will represent Peshawar Zalmi in the upcoming PSL 8 as well.

Shadab Khan and Zafar Gohar have also recently signed on the play in England this year as well.
