Cristiano Ronaldo failed to score for a second consecutive game for Al Nassr as his side was eliminated from the Saudi Super Cup by Al Ittihad at the King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh.
Making his second official appearance for Al Nassr, Ronaldo was again kept mostly quiet by a stern Al Ittihad defence with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner also guilty of wasting a couple of goal-scoring chances as well.
Al Ittihad dominated every facet of the game from the start and Romarinho’s 15th-minute goal firmly put them in the driving seat. Abderrazak Hamdallah added their second in the 43rd minute to heap even more pressure on Rudi Garcia’s men.
Instead of Ronaldo, it was Brazil’s Anderson Talisca who once again came to his side’s aid with a goal in the 67th minute to reduce the deficit for Al Nassr.
Despite the stage being set for Ronaldo for another heroic goal to cement his legacy further, he failed to find the back of the net.
Muhannad Al-Shanqeeti then scored a third for Al Ittihad in the third minute of added time to seal the 3-1 win for his side sending Ronaldo’s team out of the competition.
Al Nassr now turns their attention to Al Fateh in the Saudi Pro League with Ronaldo hoping to break his duck against the 8th-placed team in the league table.
