PHDEC starts implementing its 3-year work plan

Pakistan Horticulture Development & Export Company (PHDEC) has embarked under the administrative control of TDAP on a new journey of its revival by starting implementing its 3-years Work Plan with full throttle.

In this context the Company conducted its first activity of the year at Serena Quetta, on the topic of “Good Agricultural Practices of Apple” on 17th January 2023. Choosing Baluchistan for its first activity of the year speaks about the commitment of PHDEC to recognize the importance of Baluchistan as “Fruit Basket of Pakistan”.

Under its given mandate, PHDEC is working on product development of different fruits and vegetables throughout the country by conducting training workshops and seminars along with other capacity building activities.

While a large number of growers, processors, traders, R&D Institutions and Academia and farmers from the far flung areas of the province attended the training workshop, present among others were Secretary Agriculture Baluchistan, Mr.Umaid Ali Khokhar and his team.

The speakers MrJaved Tareen, Technical Member Chief Minister’s Inspection Team, Mr. InamUllah, DG Agriculture Ressarch Institute, Mr. M Kazim Khan Achakzai (progressive farmer) and Mr Abdul QadoosKakar (progressive farmer) provided theoretical training to the growers on the product technology and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) of the apple fruit.

Mr. Nasir Hamid, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the PHDEC addressed the gathering and assured that PHDEC will be working along with all stakeholders of the apple industry to make Pakistan a net exporter of the fruit.

The participants thanked PHDEC and its management for reviving its product development and capacity building initiatives.
